 HOW TO HELP YOUR CHILD DO WELL ON TESTS

  • Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep.
  • Provide a light, healthy breakfast on test day.
  • Have your child dress comfortably.
  • Make sure your child arrives at school on time.
  • Send your child off to school with confidence.
  • Give your child some relaxation techniques to use before and during the test.
  • Remind your child to read directions carefully and look at all the answers before choosing one.
  • Tell your child to check his or her answers before turning in the test.
  • Do not schedule trips, dental or medical appointments, or early pickups for testing days.

TEST TAKING TIPS FOR STUDENTS

  •   Get plenty of sleep the night before the test.
  • Eat a healthy breakfast.
  • Wear comfortable clothes.
  • Pay close attention to the test directions.
  • Answer the easy questions first.
  • Read every answer before you choose one.
  • If you’re not sure of the answer, rule out the choices that you know are wrong.  Then pick the best answer that’s left.
  • If you have time, check over your answers before you turn in the test.
  • If you start to feel stressed, take some deep breaths to relax.
